This morning, Danny Rueda Córdova, director of the Galapagos National Park, and Guillermo Morán Velasquéz, executive director of the Tunacons Foundation, signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement to launch the “Caring for Galapagos” initiative, which promotes coastal cleanup activities carried out by the environmental authority in the archipelago.
The Tunacons Foundation, together with local fishermen, will participate in the different coastal cleanup programs to collect ocean garbage from the marine ecosystems that is carried to the islands by currents, with the objective of contributing to the coastal cleanup of the archipelago, which collects an average of 12 tons of waste per year.
