World Wide Fundation

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1961, working in the field of the wilderness preservation, and the reduction of human impact on the environment.

We are working together to finance a marine litter collection project.

Public Sector

The “Ministerio de Acuacultura y Pesca” (MAP),through the Undersecretariat of Fisheries Resources, signed a memorandum of understanding with Tuna Conservation Group (Tunacons), with the purpose of cooperating in the development of the action plan of the Fisheries Improvement Project for Purse Seiners Tuna Fleet.

The foundation for this work is in comes from a history of WWF working with major purse seine vessel owners and their associations to form fishery improvement projects i(FIPs) in each of the worlds oceans. These efforts are dedicated to removing all impediments to meeting the MSC standard and becoming MSC certified fisheries.

The Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) is responsible for the conservation and management of tuna and other marine resources in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
