Why do we became

Foundation for tuna conservancy

3 Tuna Companies joined in 2016 to realize the pre-assessment

On 2017, two new companies joined the group and started the Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) to achieve the Marine Stewardship Council Certification in TUNA Conservation through the working plan accomplishment.

Mission

Promote actions for the sustainability of the tuna purse-seine fishery in the Eastern Pacific Ocean;
b) Promote the maximum implementation of sustainable yield of tropical tuna stocks in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, based on scientific and technical studies;
c) Encourage and carry out technical training programs for the benefit of the tuna fishing industry, in order to achieve its optimum performance; and,
d) Support the reduction of environmental impacts on marine ecosystems and the strengthening of public and private management, both nationally and internationally.

Tunacons Objectives

Promote the exercise of the extractive fishing activity, especially of tunas, both in national and international waters, subject to the appropriate standards and good practices suggested by the regional fisheries management organizations.

Propose to the authorities of the field, policies and/or projects of normative acts that tend to the efficient realization of fishing operations, as well as to avoid the depletion and depletion of the hydrobiological resources that are not the objective of these and the contamination of the seas.

To promote the realization of congresses, forums, conferences, exhibitions, research, publications; and, in general, all kinds of activities that improve the knowledge regarding the reality of the industrial extractive fishing activity

Generate innovative ideas for the sustainable and sustainable exploitation of hydrobiological resources, mainly of tuna.

Promote the reduction of environmental impacts on marine ecosystems.

Manage the necessary assistance for the implementation of projects required by the Foundation

Provide technical cooperation to state, national and international organizations, and non-governmental organizations, linked to the fishing sector, in projects and campaigns related to the objectives and goals of the foundation.

To carry out dissemination campaigns at a national and international level, on topics that are addressed in the foundation's projects; and, others that are related to its aims and objectives
