La Alianza Latinoamericana para la Pesca Sustentable y Seguridad Alimentaria (ALPESCAS); Cámara Nacional de Pesquería (C.N.P.); Asociación de Atuneros del Ecuador (ATUNEC); Tuna Conservation Group (TUNACONS); y BUREO, invitamos a los medios de comunicación, el día viernes 06 de mayo del 2022 en el Salón de Actos de la Ciudad de Manta a las 11:30 AM, al lanzamiento oficial del programa NET POSITIVA – Ecuador y firma del acuerdo REDES DE AMERICA.
La humanidad vierte 18 mil millones de libras de plástico en nuestros océanos cada año. Estudios recientes estiman que hay 5 billones de piezas de plástico a flote en nuestros mares. Los plásticos acumulables pertenecen a más de 200 familias de polímeros, que varían en composición y propiedades.
ALPESCAS, a través de REDES DE AMÉRICA está desarrollando el proyecto de reciclaje de redes en Perú, Chile, Argentina, México, sumándose en esta ocasión el nuevo integrante Ecuador, con una meta tri anual global de 4500 toneladas de redes recicladas.
BUREO con el programa NET POSITIVA trabaja desde el 2013 para evitar qué la contaminación plástica por las redes de pesca llegue a nuestros océanos; Actualmente Bureo se constituye en Ecuador en la Superintendencia de Compañías como NETPLUS ECUADOR S.A.S. con domicilio en la ciudad de Manta.
En esta alianza se proyecta reciclar para este año 200 toneladas de redes en desuso del sector pesquero y fondos marinos en Ecuador, mitigando así, los pasivos ambientales generados por la pesca fantasma.
Sabemos que muchos casos, el problema no son los pescadores sino la falta de infraestructura disponible para cuando las redes lleguen al final de su vida útil. Trabajamos junto con las Asociaciones Pesqueras y comunidades locales para brindar un programa incentivado para recolectar, limpiar, clasificar y reciclar redes de pesca en nuestro material NetPlus™, creando: soluciones positivas para las redes de pesca al final de su uso, oportunidades de empleo para trabajadores locales y financiamiento para programas comunitarios de conservación marina.
